Matthew: The Jewish Gospel

To read the Gospel of Matthew well is to read it in conversation with the Old Testament; to read it “with the Jewish storyline – all twenty-four books that preceded it – rumbling in the mind” (Schreiner). In this course we will be doing exactly that – exploring the uniquely Jewish nature of Matthew’s Gospel and journeying together to discover what Matthew means when referring to Jesus as the "fulfilment" of that which was written before.

Ephesians

Ephesians is one of the richest of New Testament books. In it, we read about the great task of unity and the challenge of living our lives as a new creation. Our Ephesians course is a 7-week course through which we dive into Ephesians and follow it verse-by-verse, unpacking its meaning and its application for us today.

Genesis

Genesis is a book which is all about beginnings. We read of the beginning of the world, the beginning of humanity, the beginning of God's interaction with humanity, and the beginning of Israel. This 6-week course is an immersive and interactive journey through the book of Genesis, through which we will explore the meaning of Genesis and how we can apply its teaching today, in the 21st century.

Introduction to the New Testament

The New Testament is really important for Christians. It tells us all about the life of Jesus, his death and resurrection, and it gives us a description of the beginnings of the Church. But the New Testament can also become quite familiar, especially for people who have been Christians for a while. In this course, we are going to go behind the scenes of the New Testament and dig deeper into its beauty and its message. We’ll explore the context, meaning, and purpose of the New Testament. We’ll dive into the various books in the New Testament, and seek to understand them in their first century context. We’ll also spend some time reflecting upon the meaning of the New Testament for us today in the 21st century.

Philippians

Our Philippians course is a four-week journey through the book of Philippians. Each week we cover a chapter of the letter, exploring its context, its message, and its meaning for us today, Philippians is often referred to as ‘the Epistle of joy’. Through the four weeks of this course we will unpack exactly what this means and how we can live our lives as Christians rooted in the joy that God brings.

Introduction to the Old Testament

The Old Testament contains some of the greatest stories in human history, yet for all our familiarity with these stories the Old Testament is often neglected and, with such a variety of books and styles, it can be difficult to engage with. During the course we will be journeying through the story of the Old Testament and learning how it came together and what its role is in the greater meta-narrative of Scripture. Throughout we will examine the various genres and rhetorical methods utilised in the communication of God’s revelation.

Church History

Over the past 2000 years, the Christian Church has spread rapidly, growing from a tiny group of believers to a worldwide movement that touches all corners of the globe today! In this course, we are going to spend some time journeying through the history of the church. We will start with the first Christian communities that we read about in the book of Acts and then follow the development of the Church, with all its highs and lows, up to the present day.

This course is for you if you would like to know more about the history of the Church. We will identify the key moments in the Church’s life over the past 2000 years and explore what it all means for us today, as followers of Jesus in the 21st century.

Christian Doctrine

In this 6-week course, you can expect to gain a deeper understanding of the essential Christian doctrines of God & the Trinity, Jesus & Salvation, the Holy Spirit & Sanctification, End Times and more. To do so, we will draw on the disciplines of Biblical Studies and Church History to grasp the biblical and historical roots of the Christian faith. We will also look into the practical applications of Christian doctrines for our day-to-day lives.

Discipleship

Discipleship has become a buzz-word in the church, but what is discipleship and what does it look like in practice? Over six weeks we will explore the biblical foundations of discipleship and unpack what it means for us to both be disciples and disciple others today, in the 21st century.
